Dossier n. 224/2012 [Abstract] GCA: comparison of regional health plans

Through a descriptive analysis this document examines the degree of similarity among the assistance items listed as priority from Italian guidelines on care paths for patients with severe acquired brain injury (GCA) and content regulations in the participating regions with regard to assistance to the patient with GCA.

Comparative analysis highlights non homogeneous regional organizational models at all stages of care: in most Regions, there are not specific organizational statement for patients with GCA and it was not possible to understand the level of implementation of care in local contexts.

The variability of care path highlights the opportunity to promote initiatives on clinical guidelines implementation and on clinical audit to improve the quality of care and assistance for patients with GCA in Italy.
